Terms of Use
The Reverse Geocode API provides reverse geocoding functionality for Portugal, converting geographic coordinates into administrative information such as distrito, concelho, freguesia and DICOFRE.
By accessing or using this service, you agree to these terms.
Acceptable use
Users must use the service responsibly and in accordance with applicable law. Abusive use, excessive automated access, attempts to circumvent rate limiting, or attempts to interfere with service availability are prohibited.
Authentication and tokens
Access to protected features requires authentication through Google or Microsoft. API usage requires a client token associated with the authenticated user. Tokens may be revoked by the service operator for security or operational reasons.
Rate limiting and availability
To protect the service and ensure fair use, rate limits may apply. Availability, uptime and performance are provided on a best-effort basis and may change without prior notice.
Liability
The service is provided without guarantees of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a specific purpose. The operator shall not be liable for losses resulting from service interruption, misuse or inability to use the API.
Privacy Notice
This service is operated by Iteração. Personal data is processed only to the extent necessary to authenticate users, manage API access and maintain service security and reliability.
Data processed
- Email address received from the selected identity provider during authentication.
- Client token information associated with the authenticated user.
- Technical and operational logs related to API usage, authentication and service protection.
Purpose of processing
- User authentication and session handling.
- Issuing, validating and revoking API client tokens.
- Monitoring, security, fraud prevention and operational diagnostics.
Legal basis
Personal data is processed on the basis of the operator’s legitimate interest in providing, securing and managing the service, under Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Retention
Authentication, token and operational log data may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for service operation, security, auditing and support purposes.
Data sharing
Personal data is not sold. Data may only be disclosed where legally required or where strictly necessary for the operation, protection or maintenance of the service.
User rights
Under applicable data protection law, including the GDPR, users may request access, rectification or deletion of their personal data, subject to applicable legal and operational limits.
